Andre VanRooi

I was born and raised in one of the most beautiful cities in the world (I’m a little biased), Cape Town, South Africa.

 

As a child, we were a part of a denominational church, where my family attended for generations. As my family fell apart during my teenage years, I became disillusioned with what I thought I knew Christianity to be. Through my Kung Fu teacher, I learned about Buddhism, which sounded more appealing to me than Christianity. I subsequently became a follower of that religion and studied it for about ten years.

 

I, however, found myself so empty and without joy and peace in my life. I began to question the reason and purpose for my life. At the age of twenty-seven, I decided to reach out to God (whoever He was) and asked Him to make Himself known to me. I told God that if He is real, it should not be difficult for Him to let a mere man, like me, know He is real. At that moment, I felt a burden lifted off my life, and it began my pursuit of this God who answered my prayer so quickly.

 

Where before I shunned the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I now found myself intently listening to it whenever people preached or read it out loud. I loved to hear people worship God, even if I did not participate. Over four months of gently wooing me, I was “caught” by the fisher of men and became His disciple and have been serving Him faithfully ever since January 1990. There is no one like Him in all the earth; no one who can save, deliver, and heal as He does. What an incredible savior and God He is.

 

I graduated of the World Harvest Bible School in Roswell Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies. I was a member of World Harvest Church in Roswell Georgia where I served as an advisor to the senior pastor, a deacon, and elder for several years. I also served in Children, Youth, and Outreach ministries for more than 20 years and have led more than a dozen international mission trips to South Africa and Zimbabwe and have been on mission trips to Cuba, Dominican Republic, Thailand, and Myanmar. I am a self-published author and have written several books that can be found on Amazon (Kindle).

 

I love the outdoors and enjoy hiking, running, biking, and swimming and am also an avid world traveler and have visited more than a dozen countries (mostly in Europe).

Renee Van Rooi

Renee is a native of South Africa and was born and raised in the Cape Town suburb of Retreat. She grew up as an Anglican but in her teenage years she left the church and did not actively pursue a relationship with Jesus Christ. She also however gave her life to the Lord after Andre became a believer. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from World Harvest Bible Institute as well as an MBA from the University of Phoenix.

 

She has been the Executive Administrator of World Harvest Church in Roswell, Georgia since 2006. She loves the outdoors and to travel the world with her husband to whom she has been married since 1983. Together they have two daughters.
